About The Conference

Radioisotopes and radiation technology have been playing a significant role in the march towards excellence in the field of industry, agriculture, healthcare, food preservation, isotope hydrology and environmental remediation. Applications of radiation technology have provided better quality of products and efficient process control techniques besides offering environment friendly energy source for industrial processing. During the past five decades, significant process has been made in all facets of radioisotope production and radiation technology programmes. Radioisotopes are produced in nuclear reactors and accelerators. Electron beam accelerators are also increasingly being employed for a variety of applications. It is possible now to design, develop and commercially operate irradiators based on either radioactive Cobalt-60 sources or electron beam machine for food preservation, municipal waste hygenisation, water treatment and environmental applications. The demand for radioisotopes for medical and industrial applications continues to grow. The success achieved in many recently developed therapeutic and diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals has contributed in enhancing the demand for these radionuclides. The industrial non-destructive testing (NDT) and radiotracer technologies have also progressed significantly. Convention NDTs using chemical film based industrial radiography are being replaced with computed radiography, digital radiography and computed tomography. Realizing the significant advancement of applications of radioisotopes and radiation technologies, KIIT DU and the National Association for Application of Radioisotopes and Radiation in Industry (NAARRI), Mumbai are jointly organizing a two days National Seminar during March 21-22, 2025. The intended objective of the seminar is to provide an opportunity to the academicians, professionals, scientists, research scholars and technocrats etc. for fruitful deliberations and interactions in updating the latest developments in the field.

The Organisers KIIT Deemed to be University

From a modest beginning in 1997, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) has evolved into a multi-disciplinary University, respected worldwide for its culture of educational excellence. The excellent academic ambience, quality faculty, adherence to strict academic rigor and plethora of other academic activities led to grant of Deemed to be University status under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956 to the Institute by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India in the year 2004, within just six years of its inception.

KIIT, though a very young institution has performed incredibly well in the rankings conducted by various national and international associations. Today, KIIT offers professional education to around 40,000 students from across India. This includes more than 2000 international students from 65 countries. The alumni of KIIT, over a lakh of them, have made their mark in their respective careers in academics, corporate organizations, civil services and enterprise. KIIT has now grown to incomprehensible propositions and is spread over a vast 36-square- kilometre academic township. Its 30 lush green campuses employ over 3000 eminent faculty and researchers and 15000 staff. KIIT and KISS together is a family of over a lakh people. The campus houses a 2600-bedded super speciality hospital, KIMS, a multi-storey central library, a central research facility, a 22- storey research and innovation wing, auditoriums – the largest one with 5000 seating capacity, 18 sports complexes, many international standard stadiums covering all sports, 30 food courts, and a rose garden. The institution takes pride in being the greenest campus in India.

National Association for Applications of Radioisotopes and Radiation in Industry (NAARRI), Mumbai

NAARRI is a professional body founded in 1976, since its inception, NAARRI has been striving to provide an effective interface between the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and users of radiation technology. To achieve its objectives NAARRI has been organizing National and International conferences, seminars, symposia, workshops, training courses and public awareness programmes aimed at dispelling, the apprehensions and unfounded fears about radiation. NAARRI has organized eight international conferences, the last latest one being NICSTAR2023 held at Kochi, Kerala during January, this year. It also, on a regular basis publishes Newsletters, thematic bulletins and other relevant publications in the field.

Where to Visit

Bhubaneswar, Konark and Puri makes the perfect Golden Triangle in Odisha that is the best tour plan to explore the real charm of Odisha tourism. During this tour, one can visit the rich cultural heritage, temple architecture of Odisha, famous temples, sea beaches, natural wonders and, above all the Oriya culture and traditions. The wonderful tour starts with a visit to Lingaraj Temple, Ananta Vasudeva Temples, Raja Rani Temple, Parsurameswar Temple, Brahmeswar Temple, Mukteswar Temple and many others. Some wonderful attractions in surrounding areas include Dhauli Hill, Nandan Kanan, Ekamra Kannan, caves of Udaigiri and Khandagiri and a few others.

The next destination is Konark – known for world-famous Sun Temple, the UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also famous for its Chandrabhaga beach. The Odisha Golden Triangle tour also covers Raghurajpur famous for Appliqué and Patta Chitra (Palm-Leaf Arts).
